Nothing quite sparks the image of “vintage” quite like a cameo. They’re soft, romantic and particularly feminine. Not all cameos are created equally, though, as you will soon see.One of the things that I like so much about cameos is that they depict lady’s fashion and hairstyles through the ages. That means that they are a great way to get a “history of fashion” lesson in the form of more fashion. If you’re a fashonista, they are definitely for you. And let’s face it; we all want to be a fashionista, don’t we?
This particular cameo from Vintage Top Ten is so totally fabulous because it’s a Flapper. I’ve never seen a Flapper cameo before, have you?
One look at this pin lets you know it was made in the 1920’s. It could not be any better if the fictitious Daisy Buchanan had modeled for it herself! If you are lucky enough to obtain one of these pieces of history and want to know how to wear it, take a good look at this picture. Pin the cameo on any cute top, grab a gold bangle ( a Victorian one if you're really lucky), slip on a ring and you’re set for the day. It couldn’t be easier. You can do this with any cameo, so if you’ve inherited one of these ubiquitous pins, dig it out of your jewelry box today.
Not all cameos are alike. If you’re planning on a more formal event and need to WOW everyone in attendance, this is what you need!
This is not your everyday cameo, obviously. The Edwardian frame glitters like stars making you the belle of every ball. The cameo itself was carved in high relief so it’s incredibly dramatic. I’ve never seen anything like this before.
Wearing this to a wedding will upstage the bride, undoubtedly. The family may never speak to you again, but it will be worth it! Can’t you just picture how spectacular you would look in this?It will look glorious on ANY dress. If it were mine, I’d probably wear it for less formal occasions too. Summer barbeques, with my bathing suit by the pool, winter bonfires…. You get the idea. I’d throw dinner parties just to have an excuse to wear this beauty. How many “events” would you plan around wearing this?!
